FrontierCarry-On Pet Policy:

Frontier Airlines no longer allows pets to travel in the passenger cabin of its aircraft.

Checked Bagage/Cargo Policy:

Although pets are not allowed to travel in the passenger cabin, Frontier Airlines does permit travelers to bring their pets on their flight in the cargo area with checked baggage. Pets must be at least eight weeks old and in good health to travel. Only one dog or cat is permitted per pet carrier, except that two puppies or kittens may travel in the same container if they are between eight weeks and six months old and are from the same litter and weigh less than 20 pounds each. Frontier permits each passenger to travel with up to two pets, provided that the aircraft can accommodate both. A one-way fee of $100 (for small pet carriers) or $200 (for large containers) will be collected when you check in at the ticketing counter. Please make sure to give yourself extra time for checking in. A health certificate is necessary for all pets. It must be dated within 10 days of outbound travel for itineraries wholly within the U.S. Passengers can use the same certificate for a return flight. Requirements for international destinations vary. Please visit Frontier’s website for more information. A Vaccination Certificate is required for all adult dogs and cats whether traveling only within the United States or whether entering a foreign country. If vaccination information isn’t included on the Health Certificate, a separate vaccination certificate must be provided. Frontier Airlines observes a summer embargo on pet travel to and from certain destinations because of extreme weather conditions that may be experienced in the cargo areas of its aircraft. If you are traveling with your pet(s) during the summer months, you should review Frontier’s website for more information about the embargo.

Carrier Guidelines:

Pet carriers must be leak-proof, ventilated on at least two sides, and must prevent any part of your pet from protruding outside of the container. The container must be constructed of metal, wood, polyethylene plastic or a composite material of similar strength, and have absorbent material on the bottom. No soft-sided containers will be allowed. Food and water dishes must be securely attached inside the travel container and placed so that they can be filled from the outside without opening the door. The container must be large enough to allow your pet to stand up, turn around and lie down in a natural position. The door must latch securely and prevent escape of the pet under normal handling. The container must have handles or adequate devices which support the full weight of the travel container and pet. For more information about Frontier Airlines’ carrier guidelines, please visit their website.

Pet Reservations:

Due to the limited space available for pets and the fact that pet travel cannot be booked online, it is important to call Frontier Airlines for reservations as soon as your travel plans are confirmed. Simply call 1-800-432-1359 and advise the reservation agent that your are flying with your pet. Please be aware that certain flights operated by Frontier’s codeshare partners – including Great Lakes Aviation – may not accept live animals checked as baggage. The reservation agent for Frontier should be able to confirm that the flights you select can accommodate pet.
